EXPORT POTENTIAL OF ALTAI REGION


Altai products are mostly designed for export and meet all the international requirements.


The geography of export is based both on specialization of products (agricultural raw materials, timber, fuel and energy products), and convenient boundary position.

Altai territory is situated in the south-east of Western Siberia, on the border of continental Asia (3419 km from Moscow). The territory is 168 sq. M. km, the area occupies 24 th place in the Russian Federation and the 10th place in the Siberian Federal District.

In the north Altai region borders on Novosibirsk region, in the east - on Kemerovo region, in the south-east it borders on the Republic of Altai, in the south-west and west - the region borders with the Republic of Kazakhstan. The high potential of the Altai territory is characterized by its strategic location in the region, which provides access to the markets of Mongolia, Kazakhstan and China.


Altai region has a developed transport infrastructure:

road transport - 1st place in Russia by the length of public roads;

water transport - river port in the city of Barnaul, Biysk, Pier in Kamen-na-Obi;

trains - length of railways is 1879 km;

air transport - international airport in the city of Barnaul, regional airport of destination in Biysk.


The variety of landscapes of  Altai region promotes agricultural business.


Altai region in terms of production takes the following places in the Russian Federation:

1 place in terms of production of flour, cheese and cheese products, whey powder;

2nd place in the production of cereals and butter;

3rd place in the production of pasta;


In the Siberian Federal District:

1 place in terms of the production of vegetable oils and complex food additives and cereals for breakfast;

2nd place in the production of meat products.


No agricultural chemicals are used for the cultivation of crops and other plants. This allows Altai region to be a leader among Russian regions in the production of eco-friendly and safe products.


The main export target groups in Altai region are:


mineral products (26.2%);

foodstuffs and agricultural raw materials (24.2%);

timber, pulp and paper products (18.4%);

machines, equipment and vehicles (7.8%);

chemical products, rubber (7.7%);

other goods (15.7%).


Altai region combines production, economic potential, and at the same time, remains one of the cleanest ecological zones of Russia, attracting flows of tourists to its natural wealth. There are deposits of brown coal, iron ore, nickel, cobalt, precious metals and minerals.

Trade relations are maintained with partners from 73 countries around the world.
